Back in January of 2019 I cut down the damaged Chinkapin oak at the base. Below are pictures of re-growth.

In 2020 trimmed new growth back to two main stems.

During the 2020 growing season kept both stems.

December of 2020 I cut the left stem pictured above. Leaving one stem to grow in 2021.

I didn’t do an update for the 2021 or 2022 growing seasons. Below are some pictures after the 2023 growing season.

In summary I cut the about 8 year old Chinkapin oak tree down in January 2019. It has had 5 growing seasons since. It is currently around 18 feet tall which would be over three and a half feet of growth per year. My major concern was how the base covered the old stump and remained solid. I think that the base is solid. So I think it has been a successful trial.
